Expert round table meeting on forest policy
This document is a summary of the Expert Roundtable meeting conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MoNREC) and LCG as part of the MRLG funded Strengthening Forestland Community Tenure Through Policy, Pilots and Law Project, in Nay Pyi Taw on November 9, 2017. The Roundtable brought together national and international experts working on different aspects of forest reform to consider how strengthening the forest tenure rights of communities can contribute to a legal, just, and sustainable forest sector. A total of 38 experts attended the Roundtable,19 from Government departments, and 19 from civil society organizations (CSOs), NGOs, and the private sector. The experts reviewed policies and laws that regulate forest management in Myanmar to provide technical guidance to MoNREC moving forward.
